Can mantra be chanted during menstrual periods?

Question
I read that chanting a mantra should be continued for 40 days. But can a women chant a mantra even during her menstrual
periods? Some say yes, some say no, so shall I continue or shall I stop and restart after the periods? What is the proper way?

Answer
Remember, mantras are given by great sages and some has been given by God Himself. Usually, mantra initiation is given to women only after menopause. Mantras are very sacred and has to be treated the same way. I do agree chanting a mantra requires faith, devotion and a clean pure heart. Also, having menstruation is definitely not impure and it is a very natural process. But, a lot of women suffer from pain, discomfort and lots of mood swings during that period. Sometimes in those 3-4 days, to perform even daily duties is quite difficult and if they are working women with kids, it is quite stressful. Hence, taking a break to chant a mantra during those days is definitely not a big issue. I have come across with people who took a break during those days and their desire is still fulfilled. So, do not stress yourself. God is loving, caring, affectionate. He does not punish. He is ready to give you what you want, when the right time comes when you ask Him in a proper way. You can comfortably sit and meditate on Him during that days. He knows all your problems. But do not be lazy later and restart chanting the mantra with discipline. Hence, do what is comfortable and what your intuition says. Once you connect with God, He Himself guides you and explains you the proper way.

Chanting mantra brought negativity?

Question:

I have been chanting daily but I only see more negative things happening in my life. Am I not chanting it properly? Or is chanting of mantra a hoax?

Answer

There are three reasons why this has happened.

1. Lets say you started mantra for a job promotion but suddenly after 10 days you lost that job. Yes, you lost your job because of the mantra. Why do you need a job promotion? Is it for more money, more benefits or job recognition? You have lost your job which means God is letting you know that this not a right job or not a right place for you. There is a better opportunity waiting for you with even better benefits, with even more money and with best recognition. Do not stop if something bad happens. Complete 40 days of chanting the mantra and you will be definitely receiving your best gift from God. God has, is and will take care of you. Just leave all your worries at His feet.

2. God is testing if you really want the desire to happen. When a serious problem crops during this 40 day chanting period, request Him to not to test anymore and assure Him that this is what you really want and that you are ready to receive with a clean heart. Do not worry. He is working for you.

3. You are not doing it properly. Your mind is not fixed on the mantra or on the God. You are not doing it with faith. You have doubts whether it works or not. You are doing just because you read somewhere that it works without any faith. You do it forcefully just to achieve the materialistic desire. This never ever works. You must change your attitude now.

Note:
Do not worry about the pronunciation of the mantra. All you need to have is faith, devotion and discipline.

Why is mantra not working for me?

Question:

Why is my mantra not working? I have been chanting but my desire is not fulfilled. Mantras are just useless.

Answer:

Remember, mantras are very powerful. They have been written down by great Sages and some mantras have been given by the God Himself. They do work if you do it in the right way. Many have been benefited by constantly chanting and practicing them. I will now let you know the proper way to chant the mantras.

Wake up in the brahma muhurtham (before sunrise)
After the ablutions, light deepam and incense
Pray, let God know what you desire and tell Him why you want to chant the mantra
Then get into meditative state where your mind is absolutely still
Start chanting the mantra with full faith and concentration
Chant the mantra not too slow and definitely not too fast. When you chant the mantra, your mouth, your ears, your mind and finally your whole body has to feel the vibrations of the mantra.
After chanting, say Thanks to the God for letting your desire to come true. (At that point, you may not have what you wished, but the faith you kept on Him will make the thing happen and that He will start working on your desire right away)
Chant the mantra 108 times for 40 days.

Mantra works even best when you chant the mantra in groups or with the mantra playing at the back and you say along with it.

Method
Set a goal on your walking app ( ex: 150 calories to burn)
Start walking with japa mala in your hands and start the mantra
Stop till you burn 150 calories

Note: I finished 4 rounds of mala (108 times) of a mantra by the time I burned 150 calories by walking

Benefits
It is relatively inexpensive if you already have a japa mala
You do not have to register at any expensive gym
You can do whenever you have time and wherever you can, as you can also do in your kitchen
If someone disturbs you, you still can continue the mantra as you know where you stopped because of your japa mala
And the ultimate benefit: you are burning calories and at the same time you are establishing an ultimate contact with the God

Some may argue that chanting a mantra has to be done in a clean pure place and with ultimate concentration and devotion and that it should be taken seriously. I have seen many Lord Krishna devotees walk with japa mala chanting “Hare Rama Hare Rama Hare Krishna Hare Krishna” with bare feet walking in the airport. It all depends on whatever you are comfortable with. Mantra becoming a part of your life is what you really want, to achieve whatever you desire.

Kubera Kolam

Kubera Kolam

On Thursday between 5:30-6 pm, draw with rice flour / chalk / computer printout, the kubera kolam as given below on a clean place, preferably near the puja mandir. Start writing the numbers in this order 24, 28, 23, 33, 27, 20, 25, 26 and 21
Place coins (9 for 9 squares) on each number with the number towards the kolam
Place kumkum and red / white flower on the coins
Light Deepam and agarbati
